HALLOWEEN!

Wow, I just straight up dissed you guys in the newspost area, huh? I was so worried about finishing the comic that I just up and forgot about posting.

I wish I was going to carry on the Latino Dracula legacy, but I have other plans. This shall be my costume this year. I don't think anyone could top that unless they were dressing up as a Space Monkeys! character.

Well, I have to go get ready to mingle with all the evil spirits tonight and tomorrow night. Have fun and be safe.

Ween 'o the hollows

PJ and I are fond of Halloween, if this comic isn't already clear evidence enough. The last few years, though, I've been really bad about not thinking of a decent costume in time for the holiday. I like to think I have some creative juices up in the noggin', but Halloween is like a holiday writer's block for me. I just never have any idea what to do, which is why I was "Latino Dracula" (makeup-pencilled in hairline, plastic cape) for about 10 years straight growing up.

This year, I have a costume and if I'm brave, I'll post photos on Monday. PJ's already got his - I'll leave it up to him if he wants to give you a preview later on. He's out at the dentist right now, no doubt getting vampire incisors installed so that he can pick up the "Latino Dracula" torch.

Sweet nourishment!

ROAD RUNNER IS BACK! I never thought I'd be so happy to be saying that. Growing up, I always rooted for the accident prone coyote instead of the bird who now personifies my lifeline, but to no avail.

I was without a connection for like three days, man. THREE DAYS! My life became a mess of depression and dashed dreams in those 72 hours. Would I ever talk to the outside world again? Would there be a Space Monkeys! comic? Would I find out what people were saying about that stupid Ashlee Simpson shit?

You can see the Hell I was living in.

But I'm back now. Baring another attempt on my life by God, we should be back with a new comic on the day of Fri. Pray for me.

Umbilical

PJ is without Internet access at home and has been for the last few days and if there's one thing he can't live without, it's Internet access. I picture him, curled up on his bedroom floor, gasping for air like that fish in Faith No More's "Epic" video. Without Internet access, we've had to resort to using phones, a distasteful means of communication as I'm sure you're aware that necessitates stringing words together with your tongue and mouth and allowing them to travel toward someone's ear canal. That whole business is just not our thing and not condusive to a working comic-strip relationship.

So, no comic today, but not for lack of ideas. Our Pixies concert trip last week proved to be a fertile event for future strips, so much so that PJ was text messaging the individual ideas to himself like nuggets of gold down an Old West conveyor belt. You see what I mean about the distastefulness of spoken words? They're so easily forgotten.

New comic soon -- we just need to fix this Road Runner crap. (And don't even get me started on Road Runner e-mail. I don't even know if it's accurate to call it 'e-mail' anymore. It's like a dead skunk that's been fucked to death beyond recognition.

We have to spray just to make it today

Today is crazy busy for both PJ and I, so I'll just say we're glad today's comic got posted at all. We'll say more about it later, but for now... bye!

In Dreams & Wishes

You may not recognize me, and that's okay. But just to refresh your memory, I'm P.J. Sometimes I make comics of celestial simian nature for your enjoyment. It's been a while since the last one so I can see where you may have forgotten about what we do around here, or how you may have become disoriented in your old age. You should probably get that mole checked out too.

But yes! We are back. The Funny is now restocked and in a safe place. A spider would have to do some serious evolving to access it now. Now, Spider-man - that's a completely different story. He can have the Funny whenever he wants.

So, once again, we're sorry about Friday. That was a dark day for monkeys everywhere. I think I speak for both Omar and myself when I steal this quote out of the mouth of Simpsons President Clin-ton.

"As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball, but tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom."

That just about sums everything up.

Attacked by fucking spiders

Usually, when PJ and I come up with a comic idea, it comes from a box we share labeled "The Funny." It sits in a closet and it's always there whenever we need it. It helps that we keep it online in a central location where we can both get to it. We each have a key, so that's never a problem.

So imagine our surprise this week when we both went to open the box and not only was the box empty, but a fucking spider that had been lurking under it came and bit us both in the face! First of all, I didn't know spiders could jump. I know they can spin and swing and all that, but jump? Those legs don't look very muscular, but this spider leapt like he was made of springs. I think the spider somehow stole The Funny while we were both clutching our faces, screaming.

Which is all to say that because our shipment of The Funny wasn't delivered in a timely manner, there's no Space Monkeys! comic today. Yeah, I know. We're pissed too. I've been spending the whole morning chewing out our Funny supplier on the phone, trying to figure out who dropped the fucking ball here. The guy I talked to was brazen enough to suggest that PJ and I should be supplying our own fucking Funny! Have you ever heard of such a thing?

So, we're going to try to stock up this weekend so shit doesn't happen again. And we're going to spray for spiders. I think my eyebrow is swelling up.

First you get the monkeys... then you get the power... then you get Slothface

We love our monkeys, we really do, but we also love these periphery characters who continue to pop up, the way you love a new toy at Christmas before the batteries run out or you blow it up with an M-80.

The comic didn't turn out like I expected at all, and that's a compliment to the artist. I wasn't sure what I thought it would look like, but it did kinda blow me away this morning. I'm hoping that Slothface makes a return appearance because I wasn't even sure he should be making an initial appearance. Sometimes, I'm learning, it's best to just sit back and trust your brother's instincts.

So it was that I woke up and it was like seeing the marshmallow of your dreams and realizing that you didn't just wake up with a soggy pillow.

In case you missed it earlier, you can still download the now-semiprecious Slothface Desktop Wallpaper, here. You should definitely, and with no hesitation, get your marshmallow on.

Say hello to my lazy friend

I thought it'd be nice to divert from the usual way of doing things around here. Not that we need a diversion or anything. *shifty eyes*

The Slothface idea was too good to pass up, in my opinion. I'm sure you guys didn't mind getting to know one of Bobbo's heroes anyway.

For now, I'm sleepy. I might be back later if I think of something else to say. If not, see you Friday.

Moon Landing

It was a long and arduous process, but today's comic is finally up. Sorry for the delay.

Unfortunaely, I am not nearly creative enough to invent a character as great as Moon. Fortunately, this man in fact exists, and I have the privilege of knowing him. I only hope that future strips involving Moon will do him justice. You would do well to visit that link up there, and to keep this video clip (sorry dial-uppers) in mind when Moon's character appears. You should also consider yourself lucky to partake in any sort of Moon experience. I know that I do.

If you don't understand what the big deal is about this man of mystery, that's okay. Then just imagine him as our token Korean guy, and he'll be nothing more than that. Though, I must say I would pity you.

Come back Monday, and we'll see if I can be on time for once.

It's slightly delayed! IT'S SLIGHTLY DELAYED!

Thursday nights have really sucked the past few weeks. I've been so tired that I've been having to attempt a nap before starting the Friday comic. That wouldn't be so bad if my body would allow me to wake up at the designated time for starting work on the comic on schedule.

So....another Friday afternoon comic. Sorry, guys.

It's alive! IT'S ALIVE!

Actiongravy.com is officially up and running. No more of this terribly-happy.com/stupidlongassurlandnowimterriblydepressed shit. See, we care about you.

Now, you can go freely and spread the word of Space Monkeys! with a simple web address that can be uttered with as much ease as ordering gravy from your local KFC. Wait.....I take that back. It'll be much easier.

Disappearing Acts

I haven't been posting much here because PJ seems to do that just fine on his own, summarizing and explaining the tenuous floaty mishmash of ideas that resides in the space between two brothers' thoughts.

The new wallpapers are cool if you haven't downloaded them yet and there will indeed be a new comic tomorrow, being the usual Friday rotation. Someday, when the world is ours and we're snorting blow from the chests of SM! groupies, we won't have to keep reminding you, but for now we'll keep repeating it: Mondays and Fridays for Space Monkeys! glory.

We're still working on that domain name issue. I thought our ISP was stepping up to the plate, but they are in fact scratching their balls in the dugout. I'm afraid to go in there and even ask about it at this point. They might ask to shake my hand.

Wallpapers!

As promised, new wallpapers are up at the Hot Stuff page. I thought the sloth posters from Bobbo's room would be nice enough to adorn any sort of thing needing adornation.

Unfortunately, the new domain isn't up yet so the wallpapers are sorta telling a little half-truth with that actiongravy.com URL. Eventually, it'll become the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Fridays should be celebrated with the viewing of monkeys from outer space in comic strip form. Oh my...it would appear that this is the perfect place to partake in that exact thing. Come join the celebration of projectile feces and bananas.

Eternal Sunshine

I wrote this post once already, but Blogger decided to eat it. Let's try again.

I've gotten into a bad habit of not going to see movies I want to see at the theater, and waiting until they come out on DVD. Thus was the case with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I totally regret it. Upon first viewing, it instantly became my favorite movie, unseating the long-time champion Mulholland Dr. I enjoyed it even more the second time I watched it, and I can't wait to see it again.

I'm hoping to put a stop to this habit soon. I still need to go see Garden State. I'd like to also go see Friday Night Lights, I Heart Huckabees, Shaun of the Dead, and possibly The Motorcycle Diaries. Here's hopin'.

The new wallpapers I promised are finished, but I'm not releasing them until Wednesday when I'll have more time to update the Hot Stuff page. Check back then. We're also hoping to move to a new URL soon. Until then.

Lean Mean Ball-Cookin' Machine

It's one thing to be a general bastard named General Bastid. You're not bound to make many friends. But it's another thing to also be ball-less. That's just sad.

I think we don't have to worry about Bobbo being persecuted for his sloth heritage. It would seem the proper authorities have no authority at all. And losing your boys to a grill....that's just not proper.

So, yes. For the slight tardiness of the strip, there should be a new wallpaper up some time next week. Maybe even two. How do Slothface and Ché Slothvara sound?

In any case, come back Monday for the wonder that is Space Monkeys!

Drats!

Looks like another Friday afternoon strip, guys. Sorry. There'll be a wallpaper soon to make up for this. Keep your eyes peeled for the strip later today.
